 “The Vale of Glamorgan covers a large geographical area, bordered to the north by the M4 motorway, to the west by the rivers Ogmore and Ewenny and to the East by the River Ely. Major population centres are the towns of Barry and Penarth and the smaller towns of Llantwit major and Cowbridge. Much of the rest of the area is rural in nature consisting of open countryside and small villages. There are some larger settlements, notably Dinas Powys, Sully, Llandough, Rhoose, and St Athan. The population of the vale of Glamorgan as measured in the 2001 census was 121,235. Cardiff International Airport is situated within the area.”
