Armed Forces Day
Date Published: 06/07/2012
Saturday, 30th June, saw the people of Bridgend County out on the streets of Bridgend Town showing their support and thanks to our Armed Forces. The event was organised by Major Wayne Morgan. Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers from Bridgend NPT were on hand to support the parade, ensuring that everything ran smoothly. There were some Military Vehicles from the Welsh Transport Regiment (RLC) situated outside the Job Centre which gave the general public the chance to speak to the army officers and find out about the Armed Forces.
The Armed Forces Day Parade commenced at 12.30pm , moving off from Angel Street. Two South Wales Police Mounted Officers and the South Wales Police Band led the parade into Dunraven Place where a short celebratory service was held at the War Memorial. The Band for the service was the Lewis Merthyr Band and the return march then took place via Market Street, Wyndham Street, Dunraven Place , marching back down Angel Street to the final destination at the Recreation Centre. A concert and refreshments took place in the Bowls Centre.
