Police make 7 arrests in retail crime operation, Bridgend

Police in Bridgend have been cracking down on retail crime in the town centre.
Officers held a two day operation to arrest outstanding theft suspects and deter thieves from targeting the town.
Operation Angle was held on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th July and led to 7 arrests, including the arrest of a 40-year-old woman who was later charged for stealing a pair of jeans from a store in Bridgend Shopping Centre.
A 39-year-old man was also arrested and charged for stealing a CCTV system for sale in a store on
A 33-year-old man and a 42-year-old man were arrested and charged for theft and issued with Fixed Penalty Notices.
Bridgend Neighbourhood Policing Team also conducted stop and search activities and conducted high visibility patrols in the town centre as part of the operation.
Local Policing Inspector Paul Tinkler said: “Operation Angle came as part of our continued commitment to tackling Business PACT priorities and supporting local retailers. I hope the operation gave a clear message to criminals that retail crime will not be tolerated here in Bridgend.
“We will continue to work with our partners and local traders to tackle theft and support the business interests of the town centre. Together, we can ensure that Bridgend is a safe place to work, shop and visit”.
