On Wednesday the 25th of July 2012, PC Ian Francis and PCSO Sharon Mills took a number of lucky youths to the opening event of London 2012 Olympic Games at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.
As part of the Dowlais Neighbourhood Policing Teams youth engagement project, PC Francis applied for a number of tickets for the Great Britain V New Zealand football match and was successful in his bid. Great Britain won the match 1-0 with big celebrations and smiles from the youths.
The day went really well with the gorgeous weather helping matters. The youths, as usual asked PC Francis and PCSO Mills a number of questions relating to what the Police do and showed a real interest in the service.
The event now enables the youths in years to come to say "I went to an Olympic Event"
Everyone enjoyed the occasion and a big thank you goes to the staff at the Dowlais Engine House Project and also the corporate communications department at South Wales Police.
