Police have arrested and charged a 34-year-old man just hours after a theft from a vehicle on Station Road, Nantymoel on Sunday (1st July).
Officers were called to the street after residents reported suspicious behaviour and a break in to a vehicle overnight between Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July.
Police carried out a warrant at an address in Nantymoel later on the Sunday evening, where they recovered the stolen property and the man was arrested.
Detective Inspector David Rees from Bridgend CID said: “We have made significant progress in reducing and detecting car crime in Bridgend in recent months.
“With the assistance of the local community, officers were able quickly to identify the person responsible for this theft and consequently recovered the stolen property.
“Although crime in Bridgend continues to fall, we cannot be complacent. We will continue to target those individuals who we believe are involved in committing car crime, burglaries or the handling of stolen goods.
“We also need the help of our communities in order to deter would-be thieves. Please always ensure that your property or vehicle is secure and always lock windows and doors.”
