Image not found. Please update the content of this webpart.Stephen Paskell is a PCSO employed by South Wales Police but his post is funded by the NHS trust. He works in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital and links into the Talbot Neighbourhood Policing team.

His duties are almost exclusively based out of the hospital but he fits into the other trust establishments in the area. He has been recently featured in an article in the South Wales Echo and is a valuable link between the actual community that exists in the hospital and South Wales Police. Image not found. Please update the content of this webpart.9am:- On this particular day Stephen starts work at 9am and is seen having a briefing on recent incidents, persons who may be wanted and is aware of any community needs that have come to light since he was last on duty.

9.30am:- Stephen walks through the village of Talbot Green to get to Royal Glamorgan Hospital. This is an ideal opportunity to speak to members of the public on the way. By being visible he also reassures the community and will feedback any information given to him to his local Neighbourhood team.

10.30am:- After briefing Stephen patrols and visits the hospital.

He pays attention to not only the needs of the patients on the ward but trust staff.

High visibility and accessibility means that Stephen has gained the trust and respect of the NHS staff and patients.

He is able to problem solve in such areas as anti social behaviour and crime reduction. Due to his links within the Neighbourhood Policing Team he is able to have access to a large range of partnership bodies.

Image not found. Please update the content of this webpart.1pm:- After lunch Stephen has begun some patrols in the hospital car parks. This is following up on some information received about recent thefts. His high visibility patrol reassures the users of the car park but also sends a clear signal to any would be thieves, we are watching you. Here Stephen is placing an advice slip to a potential victim of crime, he will keep an eye on the vehicle to ensure it does not become a victim. Stephen can offer some crime reduction advice and links with the on site security to reduce crime.
Image not found. Please update the content of this webpart.3pm:- Stephen has been provided with some essential tools to do his job at the hospital. He is able to telephone partners for advice and action and he has use of the computer for emails and administration.

When he returns to the station he is able to be debriefed by the Sergeant of the Neighbourhood Team and to submit all of the reports and information that has been gathered.
