Police Support Volunteers
A Police Support Volunteer is someone who volunteers their time and skills, free of charge, to assist their local Neighbourhood Policing Team by performing non uniform support tasks.
Police Support Volunteer roles will enhance the work of the police service and provide additional support to communities throughout South Wales.
Police Support Volunteering opportunities will vary from one area to another according to the needs of your Neighbourhood Policing Team and community. However, we are looking for people who would like to get involved in a range of activities that could include:
- To act as Independent Chairperson of PACT panels
- To conduct street surveys
- To engage with victims of Anti Social Behaviour
- To assist in the promotion of Neighbourhood Policing Team activities
- To update Neighbourhood Policing databases
- To take part in PACT led community enhancing operations, including vehicle speed reduction operations and Blue Light Disco's
Now, with the ever increasing growth in the Police Support Volunteer scheme we are expanding the recruitment to include all departments and areas of the South Wales Police.
Following the success of the Police Support Volunteer scheme, South Wales Police have now suspended recruitment of volunteers to all areas of South Wales.
Any future vacancies will now be advertised within our Volunteer News pages.
If you’re interested in becoming a member of South Wales Police as a Police Support Volunteer you will need to complete an application form and provide two referees. You will then be invited to attend an informal interview. All volunteer roles require thorough police checks prior to acceptance on the scheme.
For further information and application packs in respect of current advertised roles then visit the VOLUNTEER NEWS page.
There is a vetting process for all new applicants in line with the current South Wales Police recruitment policy.
All volunteer roles require thorough police checks prior to acceptance on the scheme, and this process is normally completed within 4-6 weeks.
