Neil Jeffreys

Neil Jeffreys is a Police Officer on the Cynon South Neighbourhood team.   Police Officers on the team have a challenging role. They are highly visible and try to conduct a lot of their patrols on foot. They engage the community in the same way as a PCSO and are highly skilled problem solvers.   They are also proactive in reducing crime and the fear of crime.   They conduct operations against some of the communities major problems such as drug arrests and career criminals.   With your help people like Neil can make a difference in our areas.

3.30pm — Neil holds regular surgeries but tries to get to speak to key members of the community on a daily basis.   These members of the community hold valuable information on how things are going within the area. They are trusted by their own community to forge links with Neil and together they form partnerships to reduce crime and the fear of crime.

He is also speaking to the local youth leader who runs the youth club and computer clubs.   Providing   services to the local youth can significantly improve an area and its problem behaviour.   Neil as well as enforcing the law assists in helping with some of the activities of the youth centre.   Gaining the trust of the community youth will have huge benefits for the area.

Neil has access to a lot of partnerships such as out reach workers who can assist in the education and facilities for the youth. Neil, however, has worked a difficult estate for a long time and has had to be very consistant in dealing with the ring leaders.   Neil has been praised for tackling these ringleaders but could not have done it without the support of the residents of the estate who provided support and evidence.
